THE ROLE:
The Scientist, R&D Technical Operations, will execute the technical activities associated with the development and maintenance of products manufactured at the Herbalife Innovation and Manufacturing (HIM-LF) site. The individual will identify, document and validate the appropriate ingredients, formulations and unit processes that meet product standards, requirements, costs, quality, safety and uniformity.
HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE:
• Manage and lead product reformulations through commercialization while interfacing with R&D, Marketing, Sourcing, Quality, Global Regulatory Affairs, and other Herbalife corporate and regional personnel in a collaborative manner.
• Propose and implement reformulation projects, alternate raw materials, formula optimization that improve target cost, enhance the brand, improve manufacturing efficiency and meet quality/regulatory requirements.
• Determine stability of formulations and ensure commercial feasibility. Prepare and execute Stability studies to confirm product stability of ingredients.
• Approve raw material formula specifications to ensure raw material inputs meet label claims.
• Review all ingredients sourced for basic safety and technical specifications, Certificate of Analysis and Safety Data Sheets.
• Lead and support investigations related to manufacturing, reprocessing procedures, product quality issues and CAPAs.
• Document all formulation work, ingredient specifications, and process learning in laboratory notebooks and/or batch records using GLP, and utilize Agile for product documentation and approval.
• Develop and execute work procedures and standards to ensure formulations and processes are robust and translatable into full-scale manufacturing.
• Utilize statistical tools to make data-based decisions for formula and process optimization.
• Collaborate with cross-function teams (i.e. Sourcing, Operations) to identify alternate raw material sources for cost savings opportunities, mitigate supply constraints and investigate issues related to raw material, and process design.
• Develop Pilot Manufacturing Batch Records. Execute HIM-LF pilots for process scale-up verification.
• Additional duties as assigned
WHAT’S SPECIAL ABOUT THE TEAM:
• The Technical Operations team is comprised of members with a diverse background experience that ensures each teammate is always learning a different part of the development process from beginning to commercialization.
