Overview

THE ROLE:

 

The First Shift Facility & Maintenance Mechanic will work onsite at our state of art Innovation and Manufacturing facility in Lake Forest, CA. Will be responsible for maintenance and repairs of all facility and utility equipment as well as production equipment. This person will perform their duties with minimal supervision. Job functions for this position include performing routine building maintenance tasks, in one or more fields (e.g. carpentry, electrical, buildings roller doors, heating, sprinklers, boilers, RO water system, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) and plumbing, etc.).This position will perform preventive maintenance on manufacturing, packaging and supporting equipment and will fulfill the responsibilities of a Maintenance Mechanic as required.

 

HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE:   

 

  • Coordinate outside contractors on periodic Maintenance services of the facility's compressed air systems and AC units and on periodic Maintenance and service of fire sprinkler protection systems and all inspections related the systems.
  • Collect and file all pertinent documentation related to the building protection system.
  • Submit requisitions for purchasing approval for required facility services needs.
  • Monitor vendor performance and report to management any deficiencies noted on the performance of the contractors.
  • Verify that work completed by facility service contractors is  company standards and bring to the manager attention any deficiencies found in these jobs.
  • Coordinate, implement, and participate in scheduling preventive maintenance on all manufacturing and facilities support equipment.
  • Notify security when contractors are coming to work in the facility and serve as an escort while contractor is in the facility overseeing compliance with cGMP and other facility rules and regulations.
  • Identify occupational hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance of assigned duties including lock out tag out procedures.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the importance of product safety and good housekeeping and the vital role that maintenance personnel play in product safety and customer satisfaction.
  • Complete and maintain all necessary documentation including applicable cGMP documents.
  • Monitor and maintain all HVAC systems verifying they are running efficiently,ensuring accurate climate control while keeping energy costs to a minimum.
  • Troubleshoot and repair of all manufacturing and facilities support equipment.
  • Maintain and repair as needed all Dust Collection systems in both buildings.
  • Maintain accurate spare parts inventory needed to assure the constant facility equipment operation. Request parts and material needed to completetasks.
  • Sustain neat and orderly stock rooms for facility related supplies.
  • Execute production line change overs. Complete PMs and WO documentation on CMMS.
  • Ability to be flexible with work schedule and willing to work overtime as needed
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

SKILLS AND BACKGROUND REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL: 

 

Skills:

 

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as a team player with co-workers, suppliers and contractors
  • Ability to optimally manage outside contractors/vendors and communicate with impacted individuals/departments accordingly
  • Highly organized with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Superior attention to detail and the ability to process invoices ensuring accuracy from vendors
  • Strong computer skills. Must be familiar with Microsoft Office and highly proficient in Microsoft Excel. Basic math and analytical problem- solving skills
  • Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • Ability to install, repair, and maintain all mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and other related components of all facilities, manufacturing and packaging equipment in a safe and timely manner. Ability to reads and understand mechanical, pneumatic & electrical drawings, including floor plans
  • Ability to program troubleshoot various brands of temperature controllers
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written English
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • This position will require the employee to operate a motorized powered lift i.e. Forklift, Scissor lift, one man lift, etc. A MVR (Motor Vehicle Report) will determine an employee’s eligibility to operate these lifts.

    ***A Valid driver's license is required for this position.***

Experience:

  • 5+ years in a manufacturing / facility maintenance environment
  • 5+ years of vendor management and performance evaluation experience
  • Previous project management experience including working with outside contractors, etc. 
  • Exposure to ERP systems such as Oracle, e-Maintenance or etc.
  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controller functions and troubleshooting the controller and I/O devices associated with the controller
  • Experience with VFDs, Brushless DC and DC controller systems
  • Knowledge of CMMS software preferably e-Maintenance

 

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Technical Institution certification or degree

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Familiar with cGMP requirements
  • Previous experience working in Maintenance / Facility activities
  • Previous experience working with contractors
