THE ROLE:
Chemist III will actively demonstrate expert level knowledge of a wide range of analytical techniques, methods, chemical principles and laboratory practices, and will perform standard chemical and physical analysis of inner and outer nutritional products in the quality control lab using wet chemistry techniques and instrumental analyses. This position will train junior Chemists for lab sample testing system and documentation practices, facilitate laboratory OOS investigations, review lab tests related KPI and communicate to lab management for opportunities of continuous improvement. This position will participate in method optimization, method development, method validation, and method transfer.
HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE:
• Perform qualitative and quantitative chemical and physical analysis of raw materials and finished products with minimum supervision.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in multiple areas of the Chemistry lab on tests and instrument analysis.
• Review or approve testing results in laboratory notebooks and LIMS.
• Investigate laboratory out of specification results for product and raw material testing.
• Write chemical analysis procedures for incorporation into test methods.
• Train junior chemists to run experiments for release and stability studies.
• Assist lab Scientists on method development, optimization, validation and transfer.
• Maintain and troubleshoot lab testing equipment to optimized performance status.
• Prepare standards and reagents; calibrate and operate sophisticated laboratory instrumentation such as GC, HPLC, UPLC, FTIR, and UV-Vis.
• Interpret test data and compare historical records for trending analysis.
• Identify problems and opportunities for continued improvements, propose solutions and preventative actions.
• Document data in lab notebook and follow cGMP guidelines.
• Prepare and review technical documents such as product certificates of analysis for accuracy and conformance.
• Review protocols and reports related to instrument calibration, qualification, method validation and transfer.
• Maintain a safe, clean and efficient laboratory
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND BACKGROUND REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

• Bachelors degree with 5+ years’ experience, Masters degree with 2+ years-experience, or PhD with 1+ years-experience in an analytical laboratory of qualitative or quantitative analyses
• Experience in various wet chemical analysis and/or instrumental analysis utilizing FTIR, HPLC, GC, UV-Visible spectrophotometry etc.
• Superb knowledge of cGMP guidelines and practical implementation.
• Nutraceutical or pharmaceutical laboratory work experience
Education
• Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field or equivalent experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Previous cGMP regulation and compliance knowledge
• Knowledge in test method development and trouble shooting.
• Knowledge in method validation including protocol and report writing.
• Master of Science in Chemistry or Biochemistry or related filed
