Overview

POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:

 

Under the direction of the Logistics Manager, the Transportation Operations Supervisor will supervise and handle the coordination of the inbound and outbound movement of finished and unfinished goods from Herbalife Suppliers to the Winston-Salem manufacturing plant, and of finished and unfinished goods from the Winston-Salem manufacturing plant to Herbalife international Distribution Centers. The Supervisor is responsible for supervising the daily Supplier Inventory disposition, shipment file retention and maintenance, processing of Oracle purchase order receipts and resupply order transactions to reflect physical movement of the product. The position will be required to maintain an adequate pipeline replenishment flow of product in accordance with Supply Chain Planning policies and maintain various Deployment related report tools. The Supervisor will also supervise the on-site Mail Services activities.

 

DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: 

 

  • Supervise and handle the movement of single or multiple pick site product transfers from Raw Material Suppliers to the Winston-Salem Manufacturing plant and from the plant to domestic DCs, European Hub and other international DCs, including the processing of Oracle Purchase Order Receipts, Resupply and Sales Orders to match physical product movements. 
  • Supervise staff communication of daily and weekly product transfer orders via the TAKE application to Transportation, Suppliers and Distribution Center staffs.
  • Supervise and handle the maintenance of global inventory valuation, including the coordination of product transfers in compliance with corporate country specific replenishment policies.
  • Supervise the Transportation Operations Analyst in the receipts of request for transportation, determining appropriate mode of transportation to best meet company requirements and arranging for transportation services (all modes of transport) for shipments between the manufacturing plant and Distribution Centers and Vendors
  • Supervise and handle the preparation of necessary and appropriate export documentation (AES filing, SLI’s, Invoices, Packing Lists, Certificates of Origin, Hazardous Goods Declaration, etc.), as well as pulling Certificates of Analysis.
  • Supervise and handle the scheduling of local and interstate trucking, and drayage of containers between the plant and ports as appropriate and necessary to meet commitments.
  • Prepare and maintain daily dock schedule for all inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Resolve issues that may arise relating to shipments (documentation problems, timing issues, carrier service failure, etc.), making decisions as necessary in order to meet service requirements.
  • Integrate critical item, new product and reworked product transfers into weekly shipping schedules to meet date sensitive events timing.
  • Manage the claims and  the Resupply Order discrepancy resolution process with Herbalife DCs both domestic and international.
  • Review Carrier invoices and list bills, making sure we are getting billed correctly to be sent to various AP department for payment.
  • Track and analyze transportation activity and prepares and maintains reports as required/requested.
  • Maintain, update and distribute on a monthly basis all related departmental reports that track productivity and performance. Identify any trends that may affect department performance, review with staff and management to determine any necessary action to be taken.
  • Conduct regular meetings with direct and indirect reports to identify and discuss relevant staff issues, safety matters, and procedural changes while at the same time encouraging staff participation and idea sharing. Effectively communicate management decisions to achieve understanding and acceptance by direct and indirect reports.
  • Respond quickly to all oral and written directives given by Logistics Manager, plus those from other departments that impact the daily operation of the plant. Clearly communicate upward, downward and laterally, necessary information to successfully accomplish daily departmental tasks.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing and Manufacturing functions to manage workflow.
  • Oversee the Mail Services staff to ensure mail service operations are functioning according to procedure.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Directly supervises one or more Operations staff and has one dotted line Mail Services staff.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Skills:

 

  • Proficient in MS Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities under minimal remote supervision

 

Experience:

 

  • Five years supply chain operations experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment with minimum two years in a Transportation environment.
  • Knowledge of ERP Order Inventor Management System, Oracle preferred
  • Knowledge of Supplier Collaboration system, TAKE preferred
  • Two years’ experience in Supply Chain systems

 

 

Education:

 

  • High School Diploma

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Proficient in MS Power Point, Access, and Visio, in addition to required skills
  • Three years’ experience in Supply Chain systems
  • AA Degree
