Overview

THE ROLE:

 

The First Shift Senior Reliability Engineer Technician (SRET) will work onsite at our state of art Innovation and Manufacturing facility in here Winston-Salem, NC. Will lead asset reliability initiatives and projects assigned by the Maintenance Reliability Manager or designee to improve operational performance with improved designs and maintenance practices. The SRET role is critical to ensuring the business obtains maximum value from projects and initiatives by improving the physical assets by, increasing productivity, reducing, or sustaining operating costs and lowering or maintaining overall net asset value. This responsibility includes oversight projects by developing concepts to prototypes/practices within the change control practices of the company. Approved prototypes will carry over to projects requiring the development of capital requests, installation, acceptance testing, validation support, maintenance plans, training materials and operations technical support. Requirements for this position include full familiarity with mechanical systems, electrical systems, automation, and control components. The SRET assists in the understanding and correction of failures, the effects of those failures on the larger systems as well as appropriate mitigating actions. Also required is an understanding of standard processes, an ability to read drawings and schematics, and an ability to identify likely failure points in design. The SRET acts as an automation specialist member of the maintenance organization.

 

 

HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE:

  • Design and install electrical control systems for use in manufacturing equipment and update existing equipment with new controls to improve performance and product quality.
  • Apply the use of automation products to increase production capacity, improve quality, reduce waste and provide a safer working environment.
  • Provide Electrical safety solutions for manufacturing equipment to guard against operator injury or equipment damage.
  • Organize multiple electrical projects to meet project timelines and production schedules.
  • Create cost estimates for proposed electrical control projects.Work closely with budgets and finances to help reduce costs.
  • Identifying and reporting on potential failures within a process.
  • Designing new systems, continuous improvements. Define training requirements.
  • Performing tests and analysis. Liaise with relevant teams on outcomes of tests/analysis.
  • Check new systems or installations. Asset Lifecycle evaluation
  • Forms of analysis related to Reliability Engineering Technician include:
  • Reliability hazard analysis. Root cause analysis
  • Accelerated testing
  • Avoidance of single point of failure (SPOF)
  • Functional analysis and functional failure analysis (e.g., function FMEA, FHA or FFA)
  • Human error analysis
  • Operational hazard analysis
  • Preventative/Planned Maintenance Optimization (PMO)
  • Manual screening
  • Other Duties as assigned

Job Qualifications

SKILLS AND BACKGROUND REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL: 

 

Skills:

 

  • Understanding of how to apply Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Planned Maintenance Optimization (PMO), and Root Cause Analysis techniques.
  • Understanding of multiple PLC and HMI programming software packages to create programs for machine control. (i.e. 
  • Rockwell automation control technology)
  • Full understanding of National Electric Code and how it relates to manufacturing facilities.
  • Have working knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers, operator interface devices, industrial computer products, distributed I/O and wiring systems and how to apply them for use in manufacturing equipment.
  • Proficiency in Writing, Troubleshooting and Editing PLC code and programs for a variety equipment.
  • Experience with the Reliability Centered Maintenance process. Use of Root Cause Analysis methodology.
  • Candidate must have good technical writing and presentation skills.
  • Strong computer skills a must. Ability to communicate technical issues concisely.
  • Ability and willingness to work in team-based environment.
  • This position will require the employee to operate a motorized powered lift i.e. Forklift, Scissor lift, one man lift, etc. An MVR (Motor Vehicle Report) will determine an employee's eligibility to operate these lifts.

 

 

***A Valid driver's license is required for this position.***

 

 

Experience: 

 

  • 8+ years of experience in critical facility operations and maintenance.
  • Knowledge and experience troubleshooting and optimizing complex electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems, industrial controls, variable frequency drives and motor controls, lubrication, vibration, and steam systems.
  • Knowledge of all types of control products and applying there use for machine control: these include photo eyes, prox switches, timers, counters, relays, limit switches ultrasonic sensors, encoders, motors, Variable frequency drives, power supplies, dynamic braking systems, soft start motor controls, motor positioning systems.
  • Experience with Oracle and Emaint or another CMMS type system.

 

 

 

Education: 

  • AAS degree in engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) or an equivalent combination of education and/or equivalent experience may be considered.

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • 6+ years of experience in a GMP/FDA production environment
  • Professional qualifications and skills illustrating competencies such as being able to read and produce technical drawings and schematics.
