THE ROLE:
The Associate Engineer, Continuous Improvement will deliver Continuous Improvement (CI) projects and activities on time and within budget while meeting Packaging, Manufacturing and other key stakeholder requirements. This role will identify and implement Packaging and Manufacturing improvements to reduce operating costs, increase production capacity (OEE), improve product quality, and improve employee safety.
Great opportunity for a recent Engineering graduate to participate in the site’s Engineering and Operations Early Career Development Program. The program will allow the individual to rotate job assignments each year over a 2 – 3 years time span gaining insights and solid understanding of various departments within Herbalife. These assignments will involve the employee participating in two or more of the following departments: Continuous Improvement, Engineering Project Management, Maintenance & Training, Planning, R&D Tech. Ops, Production/Inventory Control/ Supply Chain (Warehouse, Manufacturing, Packaging, Quality, Environmental Health and Safety). The individual will work onsite at our state of art Innovation and Manufacturing facility here in Winston-Salem, NC.
HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE:
• Plans, schedules, implements and coordinates the technical and management aspects of continuous improvement engineering projects and activities.
• Leads the determination of machine and process improvements by collecting data and resolving root causes; then propose solutions and report results to the operations team.
• Leads the identification of equipment and process trends, root causes, variances to develop action plans for improvement and propose future projects for the operations team to execute.
• Lead all efforts to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) through the focus of reducing the time it takes for changeovers, cleans, set-ups and staging of equipment/ materials.
• Partners with other engineering resources to immediately develop root cause and corrective/s for QIR's/AQL' s/RPA's in order to achieve the 'First Time Right' goal.
• Provide assistance/training to production/maintenance teams to solve problems with equipment and systems.
• Prepare and distribute documentation to enhance training, setup, tooling, operation, troubleshooting of equipment.
• Coordinates activities associated with new product introductions with Research & Development (R&D), Technical Operations and Operations.
• Develops, reviews, revises or approves Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) as required.
• Maintain Clean & Organized Work area.
• Adhere to Company and OSHA Safety Rules/Policies, and Regulations. Understand and adhere to Safe Work Practices (LO/TO, Team LO/TO).
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Skills:
• Proven understanding of small- to medium-sized project management techniques
• Proven successful leadership of small- to medium-sized projects
• Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills
• Excellent ability to solve practical problems and prioritize workload for effective implementation under general supervision
• Experience with Windows, Outlook, MS Word, Excel and Adobe
• Ability to work in a multifaceted, fast-paced manufacturing environment and be a strong team player with sensitivity to cultural diversity
• Must have knowledge of measuring techniques to create, verify, read and utilize engineering drawings.
Experience:
• College internship experience leading engineering and/ or process improvement projects or initiatives
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related Technical degree.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Green Belt Certification
• 2 years or more working experience within an industrial and manufacturing environment
• Experience preferably in Nutraceutical, Pharmaceutical, Food, or CPG industries
• Experience in powder and liquid based packaging and manufacturing
